Scott Walters, in the theatre blogging community, is pretty essential. Here's why: He's aching for a fight and he has a strong point of view. I might not agree with him at all times, but I respect his right to have his say. That's the wonderful thing about the internet: it's Democratic.
He is quick on the draw, at times. He can get people pretty riled up. But that's ok with me. He's not New York-Centric, and he has a unique perspective.
So I'd suggest you read the interview with him here. Watch as the Comments Section over there grows.
well, yes, but personally, i never got over his little stunt. that's just me. i tried to get over it and i didn't. i can't ever believe anything he says now.

At this point, I've chalked that up to experience for all involved. I agree that it was poor form on his part, but I think he was feeling sort of attacked and didn't respond very well.
ReplyDeleteI find the conviction of Scott's ideas seductive. It's the same reason I like David Cote so much. Both are arguing with so much passion and knowledge (and usually clarity) it's just kind of aesthetically pleasing to read.

Yes, it's again the fault of the liberals . . . for not respecting the disrespect handed to them by conservative fundies . . .
ReplyDeleteObviously I've tangled with Scott many a time (and I should note he's stated in a comment that the ONLY person he's fought with is me, this whilst he was in the midst of a fight with David, heh) . . . but I wish him the best . . . he seems to be at home with an interview such as this one . . .
I'm not as interested in theory as I am of ideas in practical use . . .
