Drama Guild backs off Weiss

In this letter to the editor, President of the Drama Guild John Weidman acknowledges that he was (hey, I was too) in error for going after Hedy Weiss, a Chicago Theater Critic.

(For some reason, this brings me to think of the whipping boy status that Charles Isherwood has acheived on the theatrical blogosphere.)

  1. I don't think too many people are aware of isherwood's status as the whipping boy and I wonder if he is even aware of it. And to be fair, the scope of his whipping hasn't been too intense and when it was, it was because he offhandedly said that writers should not write new worlds. I'm surprised he didn't get more of a whipping for that. And the dude is still the main critic for the most powerful paper in theatre. Don't cry for Çharles Isherwood.
