The Brick

The Brick Theater, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is where the Lower East Side got all "Phoenix from the Ashes" on your ass. Go check them out, because they're earnest AND snide, which is a killer combination.

They're currently running The Baby Jesus One Act Jubilee (including a fantastic monologue by John Devore, whom we hold in our Kingly Graces.)

I suggest them and hereby plug them with this scepter.

  1. Let me just add to the endorsement that I was lucky enough to catch "Memoirs of My Nervous Illness" there a little over a month ago and the experience was nuanced, thoughtful, visceral, and highly enjoyable as we all shuffled around the space not knowing where the next scene would take place, which light would turn on next, or which actor ready to play his scene was standing right behind you, his partner in front of you. True environmental theatre at work from a theater willing to do new work in new ways. Kudos to the brick, check 'em out.
