The Road

I am the last of your friends to have read "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. I finished it last night, just before I fell asleep, after a rainy night of fireworks.

Before I finished it, a few days before, I said to my father on the phone: "Have you read 'The Road'?" He said "Yes. Are you reading it?" And I said "Yes." And it seemed that we were both excited to discuss it when I was finished with it.

My father is 65 and has six children, the youngest of which is 14. I don't know if I can talk to him about this book without crying a whole lot.
