"Strange and Pointless"

I must frame this amazing review on Amazon.com from Deborah W. Seigman of Killeen TX. She literally threw WHEN IS A CLOCK away to protect her friends and family.

I'm sure Tom Stoppard is relieved to have been spared her fury.

A strange review, indeed.

The repeated invocation of "open-mindedness" seems almost paranoid.

And I think, but cannot prove, that she is somehow trying to use R&G Are Dead as proof of her "modern" reading chops.

It almost makes we want to post a comment reminding her that the Stoppard play premiered in 1966 - over 30 years ago.

Her other 4 reviews include 2 cookbooks, a grammar handbook for 9th graders and the Peanuts Christmas Album. (All received the highest rating!)

I am fascinated with how, exactly, she found your play? Where did she see it "advertised" and what made her decide to purchase it?

Actually, it Rozencrantz and Guildenstern is now over 40 years old.

No idea, but God bless her for spending her money on it.

I only regret that my play is so very obscure that only one person admitted to throwing it out.

Well, just you wait, Matt. Pretty soon, you'll be famous enough to have many people throwing out your work to keep the kids safe. I'm with Josh, that's amazing. Congratulations.

"Beyond the pale" is spoken only by indignant people wearing monocles, and then, only in the cases of treaty violation.

This is fantastic!

This criticism of your work actually takes three BENEFICIAL forms:

The statement that it is beyond the pale (which, is actually where the good art should tread).

The act of adding your work to a landfill (which will ensure your work survives for millenia).

The act of broadcasting dated and conservative views about your work tells me that you're pushing the right buttons. (R&G as Avant-garde!?! Come on! That's holding up the rear these days.)

Congratulations, Buddy. Kick-ass.
