Updates!
Haven't updated this blog in a month and a half. Which says what? Busy. Oh and there's lots of other places to find out information about me now. Facebook and twitter (@Mfreemanwriter) and my new website www.matthewfreemanwriter.com. And at the New Dramatists website.
But there is news to come. I'll be a part of the Brick's upcoming season, with a workshop in October and a production in early February of next year. This is a new collaboration with the Brick's Artistic Director Michael Gardner, with whom I created Exposition, Denouement and Brandywine Distillery Fire.
And some monologues from Why We Left Brooklyn appear here:

New Dramatists
In very happy news, I was offered a seven-year residency with New Dramatists. Kind of a big moment for yours truly.
I've had this blog since 2005, so that means about nine years, working with the amazing Blue Coyote Theater Group and at the Brick and the Access and all over the place. My first play produced in New York was 2001. So, it's been nearly 15 years living in New York, working Off-Off, 13 of which as a playwright. The work continues, of course. But this is a big, new step for me. Excited to see what comes next.

Yesterday was April Fool's Day

now the trend in rejection letters from large theaters - or if I feel a
little condescended to by it.

Year End 2013
The blog continues to exist, in a reduced form, as I write here a bit less all the time. Still, I'm glad to have it, just in case I want to complain about something. Or promote something. Or show you a picture of a dragon.
2013 was a solid year.
Why We Left Brooklyn played to many sold out houses, with a terrific cast. Reviews were sort of all over the place, but mostly positive, and audiences definitely enjoyed it. Or were made to feel very bad by it. A win-win.
Matthew Trumbull's The Zebra Shirt of Lonely Children was extremely well-received at the Minnesota Fringe Festival, and I'm proud of my contributions to it, and to Kyle's work on it, too.
Plus, When Is A Clock got cover art and a little write up (by me) in Samuel French's Mystery Month offerings.
And The Metaphor was published by Smith & Kraus.
All good. But, of course, much more to come!
