The Wire not nominated for an Emmy Award

Which shows us...that the awards...mean...nothing.

Yes? Yes.

Also, what a pathetic snub to "Battlestar", that none of the actors got a nomination. Edward James Olmos and Michael Hogan, at minimum, deserve nods, but the others in that cast provide truly great performances as well. The Emmys, despite all the money and gowns and statues, amazingly manages to fall below the status of most of the shows nominated. It's like The State of the Union being delivered by the mailman.

And, of course, "Two and a Half Men" did get nomination nods. Doesn't that restore your faith in the system, Matthew? Ah? Aaahhh...?

Wow. Is this like the TONY not being given to a show that's no longer playing on Broadway?

Yes. The Emmys are as bankrupt as any other award, Tonys included.

See Robert David Sullivan's recent rant on the Emmy's indifference to Mia Wasikowska's brilliant peformance in IN TREATMENT.

Hmm, this show is more interesting to people not associated with urban culture. It rarely rings true.

I have to side with the academy

Danny -

"The Wire" doesn't ring true? Man, we need to have a family dinner.

sorry for being in such a bad mood yesterday, I really don't have any strong opinions about the wire, or the many people who like it. I was just venting rage at my little computer. I'll try and watch that in the future.
