Voting "Present"

Obama voted "present" in the Illinois State Senate nearly 130 times, according to the New York Times.

He cast more than 4,000 votes.

if I remember correctly, John McCain has missed more votes than any other senator in the last two years running. He missed (According to media matters) 62% of the votes in the most recent Senate session. I look forward to the lengthy NYT article on this.

The "present" votes were also trumpeted during the primaries by Hillary supporters in regard to the ones Obama took on abortion issues. To put it simply, he was using legislative strategy devised by pro-choice organizations.
