- Matthew Freeman is a Brooklyn based playwright with a BFA from Emerson College. His plays include THE DEATH OF KING ARTHUR, REASONS FOR MOVING, THE GREAT ESCAPE, THE AMERICANS, THE WHITE SWALLOW, AN INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR, THE MOST WONDERFUL LOVE, WHEN IS A CLOCK, GLEE CLUB, THAT OLD SOFT SHOE and BRANDYWINE DISTILLERY FIRE. He served as Assistant Producer and Senior Writer for the live webcast from Times Square on New Year's Eve 2010-2012. As a freelance writer, he has contributed to Gamespy, Premiere, Complex Magazine, Maxim Online, and MTV Magazine. His plays have been published by Playscripts, Inc., New York Theatre Experience, and Samuel French.

Berit and I use my large collection of old MST3K tapes to combat our insomnia - not that they're boring, of course, but they're good for lulling one off to dreamland. Pop in a six-hour tape with three episodes on it, lie back, and it works.
Which means that MST3K makes me feel old every night as I hear the commercials and promos from Comedy Central going back to 1990 or so, TV shows and movies of the time, products that were rolled out, failed, and are no more, all of it.
It'll make me feel older when I get a Betamax off eBay or somewhere and watch the earliest episodes I taped. Yup, on Beta.
I hear these old commericals ("SAAAAAILL AWAY!") and tell Berit how they remind me of those first years out of college in NYC. And she tells me how they remind her of grade school.
I'm old.
